The Dorchester County Council recently awarded a total of $831,993 in grants to five organizations serving the local community. The funds are part of the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund established under the Cannabis-Reform Act of 2023 which allocates a portion of adult-use cannabis tax revenue to local jurisdictions to support community-based initiatives that benefit low-income communities and those disproportionately impacted by the enforcement of cannabis laws. Participants of the resource fair were able to receive chicken and beef, as well as produce from the Maryland Food Bank. Women helped create denim patches with messages of support for sexual assault survivors that will be a part of a larger collage For All Seasons will display in the community.
