CAMBRIDGE, MD (March 2, 2026) – Demonstrating a profound commitment to serving the Cambridge community, Progressive of Dorchester Temple #224 successfully hosted a Community Meal Giveaway, serving close to 200 hot, freshly prepared meals to individuals in the greater Cambridge community. The initiative targeted local seniors, the unhoused, community members facing food insecurity and those just needing a good meal. Daughters of the Temple worked tirelessly to package and distribute these meals, ensuring that those in the area felt supported and cared for during challenging times. In partnership with the Temple, the Cedar Meadow Gun and Rod Club donated food items to help support the event. Community meals were delivered to residents of Conifer 1 and 2, and the Bradford House. Individuals also picked up meals from the Lodge.
This initiative is part of the Temple’s ongoing mission to foster community resilience and provide tangible support to their neighbors. By focusing on nourishing those who are often overlooked, Progressive of Dorchester Temple #224 highlighted the importance of compassion, service, and solidarity in strengthening Dorchester County. The response from the community was overwhelming, reinforcing the critical need for, and impact of, such outreach programs.
Representatives from Progressive of Dorchester Temple #224 noted, “it is always a pleasure to serve and connect with our community.” Through their dedicated efforts, the Temple continues to fulfill its pledge to uplift the local area, offering not just a meal, but a message of hope and strength to all beneficiaries. Daughters who assisted with the Community Meal Day meal distribution included: M. Bailey, T. Briscoe, Sharon Chester (Dgt. Ruler), L. Harden, T. Lee, T. Ruffin, T. Washington, A. Waters, A. Willis, C. Wilson, and J. Wilson. The Temple would also like to thank Dgt. D. Perry, and L. Dennis for helping to disseminate meals to residents, and J. Chester and M. Harden for their support of the event.
The Temple will host another Community Meal Day on March 25, 2025. For more information on future community service projects, follow Progressive of Dorchester Temple #224 on Facebook.
