Salisbury, MD. - MAC is proud to announce a new partnership with the Salisbury Police Department to launch a Telephone Reassurance Program partnership, aimed at supporting the safety and well-being of older adults and other vulnerable members of the Salisbury area community.
This collaborative eort reflects a shared commitment to serving residents through compassion, connection, and proactive outreach. Through the Telephone Reassurance Program, participants will receive regular check-in calls designed to provide reassurance, reduce feelings of isolation, and help ensure that individuals remain connected to support when needed.
The program is intended to oer an added layer of comfort for individuals who may live alone, have limited support systems, or benefit from regular social contact and wellness checks. By combining MAC’s longstanding commitment to older adults and caregivers with the Salisbury Police Department’s dedication to community safety, this partnership helps strengthen the network of care available throughout the Salisbury area.
“The Telephone Reassurance Program provides peace of mind and companionship to homebound seniors and those who just want someone to check on them. If we cannot reach them after three tries, we call their emergency contact,” said Valerie Wagner, Project Director of The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. “We are excited to begin this partnership with the Salisbury Police Department; it will help us reach more seniors in our community who may need this service.”
Highlighting the program’s impact, Valerie Wagner said, “In the past six months, we have had two clients who experienced falls. In each case, contacting the emergency contact helped ensure the client received prompt medical attention for their injuries.” MAC encourages community members, caregivers, and families to help spread the word about the program to individuals who may benefit from regular check-in calls and added reassurance.
