• Cambridge MD Rotary Presents Annual Flags for Heroes Display

The Cambridge MD Rotary Club is honored to bring back our annual Flags for Heroes Display at Long Wharf Park in Cambridge Maryland. This uplifting community tribute honors our community heroes who have made a difference from veterans and active-duty service members to first responders, medical professionals, educators, mentors, and our neighbors who lead with courage and compassion.

This year’s display will kick off on May 21st at 5:00 p.m. with a Flag Raising and Dedication Ceremony. Corporate and Individual sponsors will be invited to participate in the Dedication Ceremony, by placing their honoree’s flag themselves. This creates an experience that is more personal than simply seeing a name on a tag—bringing families, friends, and neighbors together in a moment of gratitude and reflection. Individual Flag Sponsorships are $50.00 and Corporate Sponsorships vary by level. Learn more or sign up to be a sponsor here at https://rotaryflagsforheroes.org.

Flags for Heroes is our community’s way of honoring the everyday heroes who make Cambridge stronger. Having families come together at Long Wharf Park to recognize those who serve others will make this tribute even more meaningful,” said Angie Hengst, President of the Cambridge MD Rotary Club. “This event reflects the heart of our community and the spirit of service that defines our club.”

As we honor local heroes, we’re also mindful that 2026 marks America’s 250th anniversary—a national milestone that invites all communities to reflect on service, sacrifice, and civic responsibility. We’ll include a brief, nonpartisan “America 250” recognition during the dedication ceremony to connect our local tribute with that larger spirit of community and country.

Proceeds support Veterans Programs and Rotary Community projects such as: DCT Vets Medical Transportation, Mid Shore Veterans Group, American Vet Dogs, Vets Helping Vets of Delmarva, Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Fisher House, Operation We Care, Folds of Honor, Coastal Hospice, Tunnel to Towers, and much more.

About the Rotary Club of Cambridge, MD
The Rotary Club of Cambridge has been a staple of volunteerism and funding support for several community resources and organizations impacting neighbors in Dorchester County since 1927. Our club is a proud part of this community and of Rotary International. Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million members who believe that great things happen when dedicated minds come together. Our club offers opportunities for our members — and those interested in making a difference — to get involved. Through meetings, social events, and volunteer projects, our members learn about the issues facing our community and communities all over the world, partnering with local, national, and global experts to exchange ideas about potential solutions and to draw up action plans to respond. Along with these opportunities to serve, members also can regularly network, resulting in lifelong friendships and business connections. We thrive on our motto of Service Above Self.
