Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families Honors Fallen Heroes During Memorial Day

The Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families will host Memorial Day ceremonies at Maryland five veterans cemeteries and three memorials across the state to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. This year, Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a recognition ceremony being held on May 30, 2026 at 1:30 p.m.

All ceremonies are free and open to the public and will include wreath-laying ceremonies, commemorative remarks, the playing of Taps, and patriotic tributes in remembrance of America’s fallen heroes.

Maryland’s veterans cemeteries and memorials will welcome visitors throughout Memorial Day weekend. Community members are encouraged to attend a ceremony and pay tribute to those who served.
