SALISBURY — TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Melissa Lewis, RRT, is its Tree of Life Award recipient for November 2023. This award honors respiratory therapists who provide outstanding, excellent care to patients, make a special connection and are engaged with the care team to ensure the best outcomes for their patients. Melissa was nominated not once, but twice for this award.
In September, a PCU charge nurse nominated Melissa, stating: “What started as trach care today turned into a true display of compassion. This morning, Melissa began trach care on her patient and quickly realized that the patient was in need of so much more. Melissa did not hesitate to grab everything she needed to give the patient a complete bath. Melissa's compassion is unmatched. She is beyond deserving of this award. Thank you for being so caring each and every day!”
In October, Melissa was again nominated: “The Respiratory Unit Council would like to nominate Melissa for her hard work and dedication to providing excellent care to her patients and coworkers. Melissa is always available to lend a helping hand. She takes the extra time to provide specialty care in all areas. Melissa is proactive in evaluating respiratory needs and initiating appropriate care. Her compassion is unparalleled; she's always thoughtful and attentive to patients, visitors and coworkers. When orienting new staff, she is patient and encouraging and brings out the best in people.”
