Gerry Boyle Firecracker Kids Triathlon

Cambridge Multi-Sport Hosts 8th Annual July 4th Kid's Triathlon
Local triathlon group, Cambridge Multi-Sport (CMS), and event sponsors Tomey Electric and TCR Event Management, will host the 8th Annual "Gerry Boyle Firecracker Kid's Triathlon" on Thursday, July 4th at 8 am at the Dorchester Co. Family YMCA, 201 Talbot Ave. in Cambridge, MD. Kids ages 5-15 are encouraged to participate with 5 different age classes and distances for the swim, bike and run.

The race name was changed to honor CMS Member, triathlon race director and community supporter, Gerry Boyle, whose untimely passing this year was a loss to all.

Registered participants can bring any type of bike they wish, however, helmets are required. Kids will also have the option of using a flotation device during the pool swim. Lifeguards, City and County Police and CMS members will be prominently stationed and monitoring pool and bike safety and vehicle traffic along the neighborhood course. Parents, grandparents and community members are encouraged to attend this USA Triathlon sanctioned event to watch budding Triathletes swim 25-200 yards (based on age group), bike 2 miles (shorter distance for the youngest age grou) and run 1/2-1 mile to the finish line.

The  registraton fee is only $30/participant (as a USAT anctioned event, there will be an additional fee of $15 per athlete t join as a USA Triathlon member) and all profits from this event will be earmarked for our CMS collegiate Scholarships benefiting North Dorchester and Cambridge-South Dorchester High School's graduating seniors.
