Ultimate Survivor: How Local Insects Survive the Winter & Extreme Weather

Join the Friends of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, November 7 at 6 p.m. at Layton’s Chance Vineyard & Winery for “Ultimate Survivor: How Local Insects Survive the Winter & Extreme Weather.” Entomologist Emily Zobel, Agriculture Faculty Extension Assistant for Dorchester County, will share her expertise and fascinating stories about the remarkable ways insects endure challenging conditions.
Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in Ecology and a master’s degree in Entomology from the University of Maryland and has extensive experience in insect research and sustainable agriculture.
Charcuterie will be provided, with wine and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Tickets are $35 for Friends of Blackwater members and $45 for non-members, with special ticket-and-membership packages also available. Ten percent of all wine sales will be donated to the Friends of Blackwater to benefit the refuge.
