For All Seasons will host a free community Lunch & Learn, Time & Distance Could Save a Life: An Introduction to CALM, on Wednesday, October 28, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the organization’s Center for Learning, 111 E. Dover Street in Easton.
Led by Lauren K. Weber, Chief Strategy Officer, and Lesa Mulcahy, Chief Clinical Officer, the session will introduce Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), an evidence-informed approach to suicide prevention that focuses on creating time, distance, and safety between individuals experiencing a suicidal crisis and potentially lethal means.
Participants will learn how compassionate, respectful conversations about firearms, medications, and other lethal means can help reduce suicide risk while preserving individual dignity, autonomy, and personal choice. The session will offer practical strategies for recognizing opportunities to have these conversations and creating additional layers of safety during periods of crisis.
The event is open to mental health professionals, healthcare providers, educators, first responders, community leaders, caregivers, and anyone who wants to be better prepared to support someone who may be at risk for suicide. Lunch will be provided at no cost, but seating is limited.
