Women Supporting Women to Provide Meals to Cancer Survivors

With support from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Women Supporting Women will be providing prepared meals to a total of 12 survivors currently going through treatment over an 8-week period. Families of survivors will also receive a $30 gift card to a local grocery store to help with other food expenses. The grant will allow two meals a day for three days a week to be prepared and delivered directly to the survivor’s home.

We are expecting this effort to alleviate stress for survivors so they are able to focus on recovery and keep themselves safe. Cancer survivors have a weakened immune system and can be more susceptible to infection, so staying home during this pandemic is especially important. WSW is thankful for the Community Foundation’s support during this difficult time and is looking forward to continuing support services to breast cancer patients and survivors.  More information about Women Supporting Women and the Community Foundation can be found at www.womensupportingwomen.org and www.cfes.org.

Women Supporting Women is a local, grass-roots non-profit organization dedicated to providing awareness, education and support to all those who are affected by breast cancer. With no national ties or funding, they rely completely on our community to help provide free services to our neighbors, friends and families right here on Delmarva.
