• TidalHealth dedicates rose for Donate Life float in the 2022 Rose Parade

Dr. Steve Leonard, TidalHealth’s President/CEO, signs a rose that will be added to Donate Life Rose Parade Float in the 2022 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California on January 1. Joining Dr. Leonard is Chris Wright, RN, BSN, In-House Coordinator for The Living Legacy Foundation.

TidalHealth joins The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland (The LLF) in dedicating roses for the Donate Life Rose Parade float to honor the generous patients and their families who have given the gifts of life and hope as organ, eye, tissue, or in-spirit donors.

The rose dedicated and signed by Dr. Steve Leonard, TidalHealth’s President/CEO, is one of many that will appear on the Donate Life float in the January 1st Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. As the world's most visible campaign to raise organ, eye and tissue donation awareness, the Donate Life Rose Parade float inspires viewers to save and heal more than one million people in need of organ, eye and tissue transplants each year.

“We have been partners with The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland for a number of years and every year become prouder of the life-saving efforts that have been achieved through our support of and commitment to organ, eye and tissue donation,” said Leonard. “It’s an honor for our TidalHealth team to join them again in bringing national attention to the benefits of donating life.”

The 2022 Donate Life Rose Parade float theme is “Courage to Hope,” which shares the courage shown by donor families, living donors and waiting recipients by highlighting the winged lion of the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy.

As of November 1, there have been 7 organ donors and 18 tissue and cornea donors that have occurred at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury this year. It is because of the continued partnership with The LLF and TidalHealth’s commitment to honoring donation that many lives over that last year have been saved and enhanced.

In Maryland, about 2,600 people are waiting for a life-saving transplant. Nationwide, that number is over 106,000. TidalHealth supports The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland in its mission to facilitate donation and transplantation and to educate the public about the life-saving power of donation and transplantation.
