• “Pleasant Holidays” Virtual Fundraiser Again This Year

The Festival of Wreaths at Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care in Cambridge will be held as the “Pleasant Holidays” virtual fundraiser again this year, according to Executive Director Jackie Vickers. The festival, held for over 30 years at Pleasant Day, was postponed in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Staff and volunteers decided to hold “Pleasant Holidays” as a virtual fundraiser again in 2021 since Pleasant Day just re-opened in August following many months of closure due to the pandemic.
“Pleasant Holidays will ensure program participants have special holidays for 2021, just as they did in 2020,” Mrs. Vickers said.
Each $25 donation to the fundraiser will be entered into a drawing for a special wreath created by Mike Bramble of Florals Unique Florist in Cambridge. Mr. Bramble also made the wreath for the 2020 event.
Another prize has been added to the drawing this year. Edgar’s Heating and Air Conditioning has donated the choice of a fishing trip or a sunset cruise on the 33-foot Egg Harbor “Drag n’ Deep”. Everything for fishing will be supplied including bait, while the sunset cruise will feature snacks. The trip will be on the Choptank River. Drag n’ Deep is anchored at Long Wharf in Cambridge on the dock leading to the lighthouse.
“We are so appreciative of Mike’s donation of a one-of-a-kind wreath, and of Guy Edgar’s donation of the cruise,” said Mrs. Vickers. “They have both been enthusiastic supporters of our festival for many years, along with a number of other local businesses.”
Money raised by Pleasant Holidays will be used to provide home-cooked meals at Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day for the program’s participants, as well as provide gifts at Christmas such as needed clothing and living supplies.
For every $25 donated, the donor’s name will be entered in a raffled to win the wreath. Every $50 will enter the donor to win the Choptank cruise.
Donations to Pleasant Holidays may be made through the Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care website at www.pleasantday.com or mailed to Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care, 2474 Cambridge Beltway, Cambridge MD 21613. Please be sure to include contact information and raffle choice with the donation. The drawing will be held Thursday, December 9.
Sponsors are also being sought for Pleasant Holidays. Sponsorship levels are: Platinum, $1,000; Gold, $500; Silver, $250; and Bronze, $100. Make checks payable to Pleasant Day Adult Day Care.
