DESCRIPTION:St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church has been chosen as one of the nine historic Pilgrim Churches to be featured during the 150th year Celebration (March 2018 to March 2019) of the founding of the Diocese of Wilmington. The church\, with its original historically restored Tubman Chapel\, was founded in 1767. If you have always been curious about the little chapel and the church on both sides of Route 335 on the way to Hoopers Island\, then here is your chance!\n\nSt. Mary Star of the Sea will be open to visitors the first Saturday of the month though March 2\, 2019\, starting on April 7\, 2018. The church buildings will be open from 9am to 12pm.\n\nThere will be displays\, information\, hospitality and tours. The chapel dates to 1767\; the church was built in 1872.
