Dorchester County will celebrate its 350th Anniversary on Sept. 22, starting at 12pm, with a multi-event tribute that features a “heritage village” with displays, historians, demonstrations and reenactments highlighting Dorchester heritage and history, and the opening of a 50-year-old time capsule sealed in 1969. This commemoration during the annual Dorchester Arts Showcase on Historic High Street will showcase all aspects of Dorchester’s unique history and culture.
Some of our re-enactors include, Daniel Firehawk Abbot as a Native American reenactment, Millicent Sparks as Harriet Tubman, Mary Handley as Annie Oakley and Mark Durben is doing an interpretation of War of 1812.
Demonstrations will include the Nause Waiwash Band of Indians, Dorchester County Historical Society, MAC Lab, Bucktown Village Store, Nathan of Dorchester and many others.
Our well known Heritage Partners will include visitors from the Dorchester County Library, Maces Lane Alumni, Richardson Maritime Museum (Ruark Boatworks), Stanley Institute and lots more.
