SUMMARY:Vessel Documentation: Recording the Lines with CBMM's Sam hilgartner
DESCRIPTION:In this course led by CBMM's Vessel Conservation Manager Sam Hilgartner at Richardson Maritime Museum in Cambridge\, Md.\, we will record the dimensions and shape of a small skipjack or bateau called Peregrine.\n\nOur measurements can then be transferred into a table of offsets to be used to draw a set of lines for construction and archival purposes. Recording lines is one way of learning drafting where rather than coming to understand a vessel design through abstract principles\, our lines are developed directly from an actual vessel.\n\nYou will leave knowing how to define water lines\, buttock lines\, station lines\, the base line\, forward and aft perpendiculars\, diagonals\, shearline\, profile view\, half breadth view\, plan view\, and basic principles of vessel documentation.\n\nThis class is a partnership program between the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and Richardson Maritime Museum and welcomes any level of skill or familiarity in wooden boat construction and design.\n\n\n\nVessel Documentation: Recording the Lines\n\nDate/Time: Saturday-Sunday\, July 18 & 19\, 9am-3pm\n\nLocation:Richardson Maritime Museum\, 103 Hayward St. Cambridge\, MD 21613\n\nCost: $250\, with 20% discount for CBMM members\n\n\n\nClick Here to Register
